Search Engine

Today’s lesson focuses on the Search Engine. Check out the video or follow our step-by-step instructions below.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Global Search Feature

The Global Search Feature is located at the top of your application, in the middle of your page. This Search Engine will look through the entire Benelinx application to retrieve your record and remains fixed regardless of where you are located within the application.
The Search Feature will look first in the Object you are located in before searching the rest of the application. For example, if you begin a search when you are located in the Proposals Object, the Search Feature will first search Proposals before it looks through the rest of the application.

Object Search Capabilities

In addition to the Global Search Feature, each Object contains search capabilities. Let’s review how the Search Feature works.

Step 1: Search Scope

The first step is to determine where you want to search. Do you want to search the entire application or a specific Object or Feature? Select the drop down menu to view your options.

Step 2: Keyword Search

Next, start typing the key words for your search into the Search Feature text field. The Search Engine will pull up results as you type. These results are the five most recently viewed records related to your keyword. If you don’t see the result you are looking for, click enter.

Step 3: Search Resuts

Once you click enter, the top results for your search will appear first. Results are categorized by Object or Feature.

Step 4: View More

Don’t miss the View More button on the right hand side of the screen. Click that button to see additional records.

Step 5: Refine Search

Don’t see the record you need? Refine the search further in the menu on the left hand side of the screen. Remember you can search by Group Number, Commission Payout IDs and even file names.

Step 6: Related Lists

Lastly, there is a related lists search function under each Object. Just remember it will only search within the list you are located in within that Object. If you are located within the Recently Viewed list, your search will be very limited.

Step 7: Other lists

To access other lists, click on the down arrow button to display other list views. We recommend selecting All before typing in keywords under that Search Feature.
